mario odyssey log (spoilers)

gonna post dumb stuff i did in mario odyssey itt

spent like 30 mins trying to cheese my way up the stairs in the lost world instead of just ground pounding it

spent hours trying to find peach in the sea world. narrowed down her location by doing all the other moons to the big glass thing in the middle. tried really hard to climb up it but couldn’t. figured out there was a painting to the dinosaur world in it so i combed thru that but nothing. eventually it dawns on me i can just swim into the jet streams to get launched into the middle thing

spent like 15 mins trying to ground pound the underground moving thing on the moon until i realized you can just nail it with your hat to stun it

is the lost island like, an abandoned yoshi’s island?

also, i finally beat the darker side. the bird poker thing and the moving platform was what i was stuck on i h8 that thing. once i figured out to avoid triggering the fire shit and cheese the platform part, just took some patience with the bird

i was trying to do that part without the bird the other day

i did the whole thing each time im a gamer tiko

i mean when you’re fucking around like that not when you beat it the 1st time

(i forgot i could do that)

i raged so hard on that level i switched to ez mode and the game punished me by rolling back the 2000 coins i had accumulated trying to beat it over and over. i was so ashamed i switched back to normal mode immediately

i beat that a little while after. was pretty tough
just beat the boss rush today. took me like 50 tries until i realized i could just go buy a +3 hp thing and then it was ez

i think this was the hardest individual thing so far ive done

i died a bunch on that one bc i kept trying to go really fast

i still think the game literally uses different collision detection for joycons and for pro controller

also like at least darker was legitimately hard
dark side is a boss rush that you have to play w bad gameplay physics

yeah i agree. darker side was a legit challenge but the boss rush thing just pissed me off

i hate those boss fights in general. real boring shit

when you die on dark side and spawn theres a vegetable stalk directly beside you you can cap trick off of and get a free shield / 6hp pickup

there are also a couple hidden hearts along the way

look up the speedrun tech you can optimize them all to be so short and easy … when youre not in slowmo gravity

my fav is razor hat guy tallboi
he doffs his cap once before throwing them out
you can just straight up jump on him during that doff. then do like a ground pound into a boosted jump and immediately land on his hat again when he turns into travelling mode and force him back to doffing / throwing phase
