recommend me a pc build

mister taxi

Nobody

probably gonna buy prebuilt cuz lazy + want to stimulate economy with stimulus bux but what should i aim for
budget 1500-2000 usd
keep in mind shit is like 1.5x the price in nippon

bird on skateboard

oh yeah also i’ll probably be getting a 1440p 60hz monitor although maybe u can convince me to get higher refresh rate
not really interested in 4k but i wanna be relatively future proof

bird on skateboard

best bang for the buck would be a ryzen 3600 cpu + 16gb of 3200mhz+ ram (3667 has been claimed as the “sweet spot” for performance before you get severe diminishing returns, might be expensive compared to 3200mhz ram tho)

gpu depends on how serious you are about gaming. nvidia rtx 2060s and 2070s have reasonable price / performance ratios. 2080s/2080ti are pretty expensive for what you get and probably not worth the price

if you’re only going to do 60hz gaming you could probably get away with a 1660ti even, though you’ll be missing out on some RTX exclusive driver features and ray tracing stuff if any of that even matters to you

higher refresh rates are nice even for basic desktop stuff, if you can get a monitor that’s better than just a 60hz monitor i would recommend it. 144hz monitors are available as tn, ips, or va varieties depending on what you want the most out of your display

stunt failed

kewl thank you
i’m waffling a bit about amd or intel cpu but amd does seem to have better cost performance

bird on skateboard

Lemme whip up a pcpp

Maybe something Like this

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CW679G

I didn’t include monitor or hard drives

I also just went with nvidia though you can get a 5700xt as well for roughly equal performance to a 2070/2070s

Not sure what your workload is like you can also upgrade the CPU to a 3700X if you need more threads

I’d definitely get a higher refresh rate monitor if you’re planning on gaming

sweet ty
this is pretty close to what i was lookin at
whats your reason for amd processors btw? better value?
intel i9 are expensive as f*k

bird on skateboard

also yeah i’m definitely gonna get an nvidia card so i can potentially fuck around with CUDA stuff

bird on skateboard

i’m worried if i get a better monitor it will ruin my eyes forever

yeah its just better value to get AMD CPUs right now. Unless you’re hardcore into gaming and literally nothing else, where a 9700K or 9900K would be a bit better

Right now I have a 1080p Curved VA 144Hz monitor for gaming, and a 1440p 60Hz IPS for watching movies n stuff. Def want to get a 144Hz 1440p IPS tho to replace my current 1080p VA

Do they have RGB illumination in nippon

From: Mister Taxi at 2020-04-26 21:02:09
Do they have RGB illumination in nippon

yeah and lots of PRO-GAMER tie-ins that i couldnt care less about

bird on skateboard

i’m gonna avoid RGB as much as possible idgaf

bird on skateboard

are you gonna try this

new shit coming out

intel released their 10-series desktop parts
amd will release refreshed zen2 cpus and ryzen 4000 should be out soon-ish
nvidia will release new GPUs later this year

Nvidia RTX 3080 and 3090 leaked

I wonder how many of my organs I’ll have to sell and what size thorium reactor I’ll need to get and run the rumored RTX 3090.

Trying too hard

Apparently just the cooling solution that leaked costs them $150 to manufacture or something wild

lol @ the intro to this ltt vid

At this point Linus should just make his intro the Pornhub community theme with all of the fucking clickbait bullshit he does.

Trying too hard

Also, this video is an ad. Fantastic.

Trying too hard

its an ad for seasonic but they don’t even show the power supply in the vid iirc

Latest is PCIe 4.0 which is currently only available on AMD x570 platform and i think probably threadripper. Of course you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a PCIe 3 nvme drive and a PCIe 4 nvme drive unless you had a specific I/O bottleneck before.

Samsung is always the #1 name but I never buy them because they’re overpriced. For the average user, basically any SSD that has a DRAM cache is good enough for a primary boot drive and for storage you can cheap out even further and you probably won’t notice a difference (except for initial defect rates I guess)

Did you actually need a DVD drive or it just came with one because japan lolz

i need one for doujin games!!!
i manually burnt all the CDs when i made mine xD

bird on skateboard

Tiko, are doujin games still primarily distributed on optical media at places like Comiket? I’ve always wanted to go but I’ve never had the money.

yeah, at least last time i went
some people do download cards (like business cards with a DL code) but it was mostly CDs

when you participate as a circle you have to give comiket one of your things to archive it
so a CD makes sense

i’d rather do like USB drives or something tho
would be easier

bird on skateboard

and by CD i mean DVD

bird on skateboard

Is it the same for music as well? Part of me wants to go just to rip the music for my collection.

Trying too hard

idk i never go to the music day but probably

Thanks. I’m still holding off on a build…. but this is good to know.
